Mission

Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada  (FACT) is dedicated to helping
children, adults and families overcome and heal the traumas of abuse, neglect and violence through education, prevention and treatment services.

History
Family and Child Treatment of Southern Nevada has been providing counseling, education and prevention services to victims of child abuse since 1984. Originally opened in 1984 as Child Sexual Abuse Treatment Program (CSAT), the mission was to provide low cost treatment to children and their families who may otherwise not be able to access services. In 1990 United Way assisted our agency in a merger with another organization that shared our mission.  The ideals, values and the program grew to include families and adults who were molested as children. Today, FACT provides comprehensive services with financial assistance from United Way, state and federal grants, and individual and corporate donations.

Goals

  • Provide the highest quality treatment to individuals and families striving to improve their lives and emotional health
  • Be a leader in the development and implementation of programs to prevent the cycle of child abuse and neglect
  • Form collaborative partnerships and assume a leadership role in developing programs to serve culturally diverse populations
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for greater community awareness and more effective public policy on issues related to child abuse, neglect, family systems and mental health.

Leadership
Family and Child Treatment is governed by a Board of Directors and is incorporated as a 501 ©(3) nonprofit organization, operating under the by-laws as set forth by the State of Nevada for nonprofit organizations as well as by its own internal by-laws, policies and procedures. Under the authority of the Board of Directors, the organization is managed by Heather Gibbs, Executive Director.
